Irishsetterhealth.org
is a website dedicated to the
health and wellness of a most beloved breed; the Irish Setter. It was created
strictly as reference material and to enhance the reader's knowledge of this
breed. It should NOT replace sound veterinary advice or care.
Irish Setters are typically healthy dogs with
few overall health problems. The quick buttons to the left are the most common
disorders associated with the Irish Setter.
Of these, many can be reduced or
eliminated by selective breeding and genetic testing. Other disorders listed on
this site are not to be considered commonplace specifically to the Irish
Setter. All purbred dog breeds, to include mixed breeds, share in the
likelihood of being affected by these disorders.
